Margaret Sherer, Founder, Fractional CMO, Chief Marketing Strategist

Over 18+ years, Margaret has had two careers. First in the corporate world of big tech at Microsoft and Google, sandwiched with an MBA from Cranfield School of Management. Then in 2015, Margaret embarked into the wonderful world of entrepreneurship. Margaret has worked with 100s of companies to understand their marketing growth strategies and has supported scale either as a Fractional CMO or as the Founder of Cittadina Marketing, the one stop shop for digital marketing.

Margaret guides marketers at fast growth tech companies migrate from scrappy to strategic marketing from Seed through Series C and works with business owners at startups to implement focused marketing practices from the beginning of their enterprises. As a consultant or as the leader of her team and network of expert freelancers and boutique agencies, Margaret and Cittadina aim to help customers grow through thoughtful, connected and automated digital marketing.

She is uniquely placed to understand the growing pains of fast growth companies whilst remaining focused on strategic marketing opportunities through each level of scale. Through her career, Margaret has also had the honour to be on Advisory Boards of Universities, like University of Westminster and University of Surrey as well as an Advisor to the co-founders of Littledata, the connected ecommerce data tool. She has also given lectures at Cranfield School of Business, University of Westminster and University of Greenwich, and has been a guest on many podcasts.

 

Sarah Sawrey-Cookson, Director of Comms and Media

Sarah Sawrey-Cookson is a highly experienced communications and PR director – she has worked on global portfolios delivering many successful PR initiatives here in the UK but also across the world. Tailoring strategies to meet the needs of her client, her determined approach for success is accompanied with a positive and collaborative attitude – in particular working closely with CEOs to ensure their business objectives align seamlessly with PR and media relations.

She has worked in media relations and communications for over 25 years. London agency trained, she has worked with many clients to develop engaging communication strategies that deliver high quality media coverage and impactful comms. Highlights include partnering with celebrities and iconic brands to develop global PR campaigns with Save Wild Tigers, leading global PR programmes across 26 countries simultaneously on behalf of Get Safe Online as part of repeated significant funding received by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, assisting tech start-ups with aggressive growth plans ensuring media coverage reflects their impact and presence in their industry, delivering composed and robust crisis communications when needed navigating national red top challenges and winning ‘PR Person of the Year’ at the Pure Beauty Industry awards. She is currently a mentor on the UK Government backed ‘UK-Gulf Women in Cybersecurity Fellowship’. Client history includes brands from giants such as Proctor & Gamble, Diageo and Noble Foods, as well as a number of tech start-ups, charities and not-for-profit organisations. Her current client portfolio sees her working directly with the UK Foreign Office, HSBC and Barclays Bank to name a few.
